For over 20 years, Richard Rice has been active as a singer, conductor, and composer in the Washington, D.C. area, where he has served primarily as a church musician. As director of Canticum Novum Schola of Greater Washington, he indulges his love of Gregorian chant in the con¬text of the traditional Latin Mass. He currently serves as assistant conductor and composer in residence for the choir of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in McLean, Virginia. Richard has enjoyed several collaborations with The New York Virtuoso Singers, including the premiere performance of his setting of Wilfred Owen’s monumental war poem, Dulce et decorum est, and his setting of Salve Regina, which was published in 2008 by G. Schirmer, Inc., as part of its Harold Rosenbaum Choral Series. Richard holds a Master of Liturgical Music from The Catholic University of America, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and History from Seattle Pacific University.
